Week 3 class

Dominic Lai

This week we are focusing on the website design, Eugenie told us to look at the user's point of view, this is the key to a successful website.

Things have learned:

  • Information Hierarchy: Reading pattern of "F" & "Z" and Font Terminology; the placements of text would affect the readers' experiences.

  • ISOTYPE: it is a solution in communication for the language barrier in different regions. Pictures & icons are used to express meaning to give an easier understanding. But it is limited to the context of the people.

  • UI & UX: These are the design terms on a website. UI stands for the user interface; in other words, the look of a website. Which affects the user's understanding of the website. UX stands for user experience; which is the structure flow of the website.

  • GUI: firstly introduced by Apple Inc on the macOS, which is a graphical user interface, making a more user-friendly interface for the operation of a computer.

  • Organising information: the creation of a website is progress in classification and categorisation, we need to make users understand our message easily and clearly.

Eugenie gave us some free tools for our website production. In extra, Eugenie told us more about the pitching skill to improve our presentations performance.

In the group project, we are working on the presentation that will happen next week. We are preparing the content of our presentation, like wireframes and moodboard.
