This week, we had individual project presentations and talked about assignment 4. Our class was still held online, so we needed to present online. We needed to spend extra time to prepare our equipment, like the camera & microphone. We were only given 5 minutes to present our works about the presentation. It is pretty challenging for most of us to control our time; we are commonly overrun for a little bit.
After the online presentation section, the school announced our class back to face to face mode. So we backed to school and continued the lecture this week. Eugenie told us the requirement of assignment 4 - the evaluative essay. Also asked us to prepare the essay topic.
Things have learned:
Information society: refer to the society nowadays. The main industrial activities are in information and services, like e-banking, e-commerce, A.I. development etc. The world has been changed by technology. Also, knowledge would dominate economic development.
Network society (Manuel Castells, 1996): With the development of social & media network technology, people's ways of getting information and connecting have been changed, from an up-to-down direction to diffused direction. Which also means decentralisation. "Networks" would be the new social morphology. However, some scholars argue that technology is just a tool for humans, not to determine us. Also, the uneven technology/education level could lead to an issue of the digital divide.
Our group is almost finished with the content research on the group project. We are also modifying our website UI & UX design. We would hold an online meeting on the coming weekend to work together and start the composing work on Wix.
